Foggy phenomena, plus a puppy.

Last night I was up with Will when he kicked his blankets off and then got cold. I bundled him up in a quilt and rocked with him while I looked out the window entranced by the very thick fog. We had seen a daylong snowfall and with the dense fog in the night time darkness it was a fantastic winter sight.
With it being so cold, the fog settled on the trees branches and stayed. In the sunny morning
this was the result:

It is a custom made sweater knitted of frost. How pretty it was seeing the many trees sporting the same fluffy coat in the sunlight. This was certainly a nice treat to wake up to after fighting rush hour traffic in a snowstorm last night.

We had made arrangements to meet with a foster parent of 9 black lab mixed puppies. We had just completed the three-step interview process with the Retriever Rescue Society and were approved to be responsible puppy owners. We were wanting a new puppy, but were in no rush, willing to wait until the right guy came along. Of course I get a call that there are 9 5-week old pups about 1 week later. So, again we are making a foray into dog ownership. If you have not read previously about our first foray, you can read about it here and here. Unfortunately it did not go so well the first time. That is why we wanted the youngest pup possible, so he would have a chance to know from an early age, just what he was dealing with. Lots of kids and lots of hustle and bustle. So, braving the busy, slippery roads we arrived to meet two handsome young black labs. The guy who greeted us with his cute and stubby puppy tail wagging, brave enough to sniff us and give us the approving lick, was the guy we felt was for us. Here he is with Olivia:

Notice those big paws? Yes, he was the biggest guy of the litter. He also features interesting black colouring, that looks brown in the undercoat.
Now we are having an ongoing family debate as to the name of the guy. I'll fill you in when we are decided. Until then we are batting down the hatches and getting things prepared for a new member of the family. Oh, my poor carpets.

What beauty in nature: both the frosted tree branches and your new puppy! Congratulations on your new family member!
