John Got Caught--doesn't he look surprised! This is such a fun contest. Our house is filled with children's books (in fact we just got back from the Scholastic Book Fair, so inventory has just grown). It is hard to pick just one favorite book. My girls (who ar 6 and 10) definitely loved the Olivia books when they were younger. They also loved anything by Kevin Henkes and Rosemary Wells. Of course classics, like the Little Bear stories, Madeline, Make Way for Ducklings, Blueberries for Sal, Goodnight Moon, Runaway Bunny, Where the Wild Things Are, and all of the Dr. Seuss books were all a big hit.John loves anything with bright pictures and a melodic verse. We read the baby board books by Sandra Boyton, Eric Carle and Felicia Bond. He also likes books that are illustrations of popular kid's songs (like Baby Beluga). Sesame Street books are a favorite too; something about those happy monsters always brings a smile to his face.

Wow, he sure did get caught-I hope he wasn't mad you interrupted his reading time! Thanks for all those great titles you mentioned. I'm sure most parents will be familiar with at least some of them (maybe from back in the day when they were kids!) Sandra Boynton is a popular author here too. Uncomplicated illustrations, easy to read silliness makes for a fun read.
